David Burke (Jason Sudeikis) is a small-time pot dealer whose clientele includes chefs and soccer moms, but no kids-after all, he has his scruples. So what could go wrong? Plenty. Preferring to keep a low profile for obvious reasons, he learns the hard way that no good deed goes unpunished when he tries to help out some local teens and winds up getting jumped by a trio of gutter punks. Stealing his stash and his cash, they leave him in major debt to his supplier, Brad (Ed Helms). In order to wipe the slate clean-and maintain a clean bill of health-David must now become a big-time drug smuggler by bringing Brad's latest shipment in from Mexico. Twisting the arms of his neighbors, cynical stripper Rose (Jennifer Aniston) and wannabe customer Kenny (Will Poulter), and the tatted-and-pierced streetwise teen Casey (Emma Roberts), he devises a foolproof plan. One fake wife, two pretend kids and a huge, shiny RV later, the "Millers" are headed south of the border for a Fourth of July weekend that is sure to end with a bang. (c) WB

Really just an overstuffed story that comes off not as layered but rather as an unfocused jumble.

Watch The Great Gatsby Top Movies Free

"The Great Gatsby" follows Fitzgerald-like, would-be writer Nick Carraway (Tobey Maguire) as he leaves the Midwest and comes to New York City in the spring of 1922, an era of loosening morals, glittering jazz, bootleg kings, and sky-rocketing stocks. Chasing his own American Dream, Nick lands next door to a mysterious, party-giving millionaire, Jay Gatsby (Leonardo DiCaprio), and across the bay from his cousin, Daisy (Carey Mulligan), and her philandering, blue-blooded husband, Tom Buchanan (Joel Edgerton). It is thus that Nick is drawn into the captivating world of the super rich, their illusions, loves and deceits. As Nick bears witness, within and without of the world he inhabits, he pens a tale of impossible love, incorruptible dreams and high-octane tragedy, and holds a mirror to our own modern times and struggles. -- (C) WB

Review For Movie The Great Gatsby
It's stupefying, it's vulgar, it's demeaning-it's dull and there's nothing like the dullness that is trying to be a sensation.
David Thomson-The New Republic

Gatsby/ghastly
Joe Baltake-Passionate Moviegoer

There are no two ways about it: The Great Gatsby is misconceived and misjudged, a crude burlesque on what's probably American literature's most precious jewel.
Tom Charity-CNN.com

The central problem with Luhrmann's film is that when it's entertaining it's not Gatsby, and when it's Gatsby it's not entertaining.
Christopher Orr-The Atlantic

The best attempt yet to capture the essence of the novel.
Richard Roeper-Richard Roeper.com

A failure that should have at least been a magnificent mistake.
Connie Ogle-Miami Herald

Adapting Gatsby just so you can recreate the party scenes is like remaking Born on the Fourth of July for the war scenes. Luhrmann has a knack for missing the point.
Will Leitch-Deadspin

...as disastrous and pointless an adaptation as one can easily recall...
David Nusair-Reel Film Reviews

A stunning recreation of 1920's New York that sticks as close to its source material as it can while delivering an engaging adaptation.
Wesley Lovell-Cinema Sight

If Fitzgerald's Jazz Age classic is the Great American Novel, then this frantically jazzed-up 3D film is the pop-up-book version.
Jason Best-Movie Talk

Though it is quite possible that the neutered feel of Luhrmann's Gatsby is entirely due to studio meddling, the finished product isn't enjoyable, either as campy fun or a serious attempt at dismantling the American dream.
Violet Lucca-Film Comment Magazine

For some reason every time someone mentions Gatsby's name for the first time someone else has to say it questioningly, which to me sounds like a perfect condition for a drinking game
Michael A. Smith-MediaMikes

... offers some brilliant moments before turning into another case of self-indulgent sensory overload.

Without Nick to articulate the decline, The Great Gatsby is reduced to little more than a love triangle between the remotely rich.
Fiona Williams-sbs.com.au

A riveting reinterpretation for the Hip-Hop Generation apt to be best appreciated by fans of gangsta' rap videos weaned on shallow, hedonistic displays of misogyny and materialism.
Kam Williams-Sly Fox

While it never stops calling attention to itself, it's still a wonder to behold.
Dominic Corry-Flicks.co.nz

The biggest problem here is the quartet of Leo, Tobey, Carey and Joel stuck with such pain-in-the-arse characters. And all the amusingly anachronistic soundtracking, gorgeous production design and cinematic gloriousness can't make up for that, old sport.
David 'Mad Dog' Bradley-Rip It Up

What makes The Great Gatsby a failure is Luhrmann's fear of the delicate moment, the ungilded lily. His camera whizzes across Manhattan, hurtling down the sides of skyscrapers, until overkill seeps into every quiet corner.
Ryan Gilbey-New Statesman

An ambitious, beautiful but shallow alternative to typical summer fare.
Bruce Bennett-Spectrum (St. George, Utah)

When you throw in the extravagant sets, costumes and visual effects, it's as if you're watching a moving painting. New York in the 1920s could not look any more beautiful.
Matthew Toomey-ABC Radio Brisbane

So we beat on, stereoscopic boats against the current, borne back ceaselessly into the past, listening to Amy Winehouse.
John Beifuss-Commercial Appeal (Memphis, TN)

What's truly telling about this brash, boisterous adaptation is that the director clearly understands the spirit of F. Scott Fitzgerald's novel better than most film critics.
Jim Schembri-3AW

Luhrmann's current creative mindset reflects more PT Barnum than J Gatsby; a manipulative showman able to conjure images of light and colour to dazzle the masses while wilfully neglecting their hearts and minds.
Simon Foster-Screen-Space

Review For Movie Revolution
It should be essential viewing, particularly in high schools and universities, whence the next generation of policy makers will one day emerge, hopefully more enlightened than we have been.
Michael Posner-Globe and Mail

A well-meaning yet disjointed effort that often seems more like a crusader's travelogue than documentary.
Linda Barnard-Toronto Star

As a piece of timely, well-researched propaganda, it does what it had to do, and forces the viewer to make a latex mould of one's own footprint and take responsibility for our own part in creating an over-trodden planet.

Review For Movie Gacy
i'm pretty sure Gacy's life wasn't this boring
Stefan Birgir Stefansson-sbs.is

Was this movie really necessary? Sickoid film content is far from entertaining.
Steve Crum-Video-Reviewmaster.com

Gacy channels its horror through bicentennial suburban kitsch, clowns-in-the-closet visuals, and a heaving, foul, maggot-carpeted crawlspace deep with death and lies.
Martin Scribbs-Low IQ Canadian

We barely learn a thing about [Gacy], other than the fact that his father abused him and he hates his wife.
David Nusair-Reel Film Reviews

In this unenlightening, dramatized account of Gacy's crime spree, first-time writer-director Clive Saunders, working with television writer David Birke, displays little genuine interest in why Gacy killed.

Review For Movie Byzantium
A lethargic and uninspired take that aims to be something different, but ultimately isn't.
Dennis Harvey-Variety

Neil Jordan interviews a whole new set of vampires but draws precious little blood.
David Rooney-Hollywood Reporter

The movie is gorgeous, mesmerizing, poetic; the lyricism actually heightened by harsh jets of gore.
David Edelstein-New York Magazine

What's really missing is the vampire's tragedy: that ache, the loss of feeling, the sense that in killing death, the essence of what it is to be human is destroyed.
Cath Clarke-Time Out

I simply have no more room in my life for ennui-besotted vampires.
Jordan Hoffman-Film.com

Despite an intriguing premise (mother and daughter vampires struggling to survive) the film lacks a consistent tone and misses a real dramatic tension, which is surprising given the subject matter.
Mark Adams-Screen International

The story's nothing new, but the film is still vivid, lurid, sexy and seedy
Roger Moore-McClatchy-Tribune News Service

Neil Jordan's curiously revisionist addition to the cult of the undead category.
Susan Granger-SSG Syndicate

Some "vampire stuff" you've seen before, a few new ideas that work, two great performances, and a lot of skilled veterans behind the camera.
Scott Weinberg-FEARnet

There's good work in here but the climax sadly lacks the emotive punch it's looking for.
Martin Roberts-Fan The Fire

It's enough to make Stephenie Meyer's ovaries implode.
Ed Whitfield-The Ooh Tray

A tangle of genre conventions and wayward plotting starts to blunt the film's thematic point.
Michael Leader-Film4

Another artfully dull take on vampire lore, one that rather self-consciously tries to outclass Twilight and its ilk, yet still completely fails to be in any way seductive.
Alistair Harkness-Scotsman

A haunting, touching and visually sublime reinvention of undead mythology.
Alan Jones-Radio Times

Byzantium is a complex film that combines a traditional gothic horror story (though not one that sticks to traditional vampire law), social history and a realistic account of dealing with authentic physical distress.
Philip French-Observer [UK]

A slightly frustrating picture: full of brilliant things, but hampered with at least three split personalities.
Donald Clarke-Irish Times

Unlike the Christopher Lee movies of old, it feels compromised and convoluted, lacking in action, pace and scares as if caught between two sets of fangs in a post-Twilight vacuum.
Graham Young-Birmingham Mail

Nearly 20 years after Interview With the Vampire, Neil Jordan returns to the genre to breath some new life into a mythology that has grown stale, predictable and rather mopey (see Twilight).
Rich Cline-Contactmusic.com

Director Neil Jordan's return to the vampire genre is bloody and atmospheric, but at heart, it's about a girl who just desperately needs someone to listen to her.
Sarah Dobbs-SFX Magazine

As a sketch of life on the margins in a tatty seaside resort, it works well enough. As an action pic, though, it's just too slow, too long.
David Sexton-This is London

This may be one vampire film that has bitten off more than it can devour. The screenplay contains some clunky dialogue and never seems to hit a confident stride.
Allan Hunter-Daily Express

The only suspense lies in wondering where the next bad line will come from. And little suspense even there. It will come from the next open mouth.
Nigel Andrews-Financial Times

Review For Movie The End of Love
Creative people often mistakenly assume that the trials of their profession are compelling.
Drew Hunt-Chicago Reader

"The End of Love" is an exceptionally intimate, human-scaled picture. It's also quite a special piece of work.
Gary Goldstein-Los Angeles Times

Mr. Webber, a skilled actor, has not devised a narrative with sufficient momentum or tension to sustain much interest.
Andy Webster-New York Times

There is plenty of evidence that Webber has something significant to say, and the gifts with which to express himself. Once he's ready to commit fully to his own vision, there's no end to what he might accomplish.
Elizabeth Weitzman-New York Daily News

Mark Webber's "The End of Love" connects and lingers by making incredible effort seem natural.
Charlie Schmidlin-Chicago Sun-Times

There are some lovely and moving things here, but over the long haul it's more like watching an hour and a half of someone's weekend trip to Knott's Berry Farm.
Rex Reed-New York Observer

Those willing to drift along with it will find a compelling character study about a man coming to terms with himself, his son, and the people who enter their lives.
Jeremy Mathews-Paste Magazine

Single dad's struggles are poignant, somewhat mature.
S. Jhoanna Robledo-Common Sense Media

Shot with tiny digital cameras to minimize the sense of intrusion, The End Of Love sometimes feels like a home movie, but that's also the source of its strength.
Sam Adams-AV Club

Webber appears to be making an audition tape with his second directorial effort, using screen time to display a range of moods and dramatic encounters that could go on to secure future jobs for the actor.
Brian Orndorf-Blu-ray.com

Not sure if The End of Love's Mark Webber got that callback from Paul Thomas Anderson, but the Mark Webber who made The End of Love deserves to be getting a few.
